Shades: A Poem on Racism

When I learned about colors,

I also learned shades

When I learned about humans,

I learned that we are one

How We Answer

Should it be – that life be dictated, opportunity restricted, based on someone’s hatred?

Should it be – that a lighter skin colour be a determining factor for me to reach higher?

FALTERCATION.

Smile more

I like the new dress,

Hold on, let me add on

You look different

Equity is Justice

Black does not mean thug

Hispanic does not mean illegal

Asian does not mean virus

Brown does not mean terror

It’s like we are living in a house split into floors 

Maybe we’d be good if we accept all our flaws
